Overview
Udzungwa Mountains National Park spans between Kilolo District of Iringa Region and Kilombero District of Morogoro Region in Tanzania. It is known for its biodiversity, spectacular scenery and cultural significance. With an area of about 1,990 square kilometers, the park has a variety of habitats, including tropical rainforest, grassland, and mountain forest and it is famous for its high concentration of endemic species of animals and plants which makes it an important biodiversity hotspot on earth. The park is part of the Eastern Arc Mountains and has the second highest biodiversity of all national parks in Africa. It takes about 6 hours to get to Udzungwa National Park from Dar Es Salaam. Other national parks close to it are Mikumi National Park which is 1.5 hours away and Ruaha National park which is 6-7 hours away by car. Best time to visit the park is from June to October.
