Overview
Ruaha National Park is arguably the most famous park in the southern circuit, followed Selous National Park which has recently been renamed Nyerere National Park. The national park is known for its diverse wildlife, dramatic landscape (which has open, dry areas, rocky outcrops, and hillsides with baobab trees) and birdwatching and walking safari opportunities. It is home to about 10 percent of the world’s lion population and a large population of greater and Lesser Kudu. the park is also a good place to spot other less common antelopes such as sable and roan antelopes, as well as topi. Ruaha National Park is more remote than other parks in Tanzania, so it’s quieter and less crowded.
