Overview
Gombe Stream National Park is one of the three national parks in the western circuit of Tanzania’s national parks. The other parks in the Western Circuit are Katavi National Park and Mahale National Park. Covering 52 square kilometers only, it’s Tanzania’s smallest national park on the eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika. It is a protected area in Kigoma region, western Tanzania, known for its chimpanzees which live protected within its boundaries. The park’s scenery is stunning. Most of its 16 major valleys are covered by Guinea-Congo forests and contain swift steams which flow all year, while the upper slopes are covered with miombo woodland.
